Foghead

Early in the morning we edged around a cape and into the light.

On the way back to shore huge clouds amassed in the western sky and the horizon seemed weirdly close, like the set in the movie Truman.

The forces of nature

As the boat eased around this rocky outcrop we all got a better look

Just after sunset when the only light is the red western sky. The title refers to Arnold Bocklin’s famous painting Isle of the Dead. This acrylic studio painting is 50cm x 50cm

This Island reminded me of Arnold Bocklin’s series Isle of the Dead. I made several works of this place from different angles at different times of the day. This is the Golden Time at the end of the day.

A studio work looking at the shallows

Another plein air made on an island off the Queensland Coast. Made in fog and drizzle I really liked the marks left by the rain so I made no attempt to disguise them. I called this Sleeping Sow Rock

As I was making this plein air work at Cape Hillsborough the sea mist from behind the farm came in and gradually engulfed the Pinnacle.
